Will I need to register each of my children separately on PledgeStar?
No, you will register one page for all students in your family. You will add each student as an individual participant with their name and grade as part of registration.
We have three kids, will our family and friends get an email from each child?
No. PledgeStar sends a single pledge request for all the participants in your family. Donations to families with multiple participants will be split evenly.
Example: For your three participating children, your family and friends receive a single pledge request, and a $60 donation will be split $20 per child.
If I registered last year, will my contacts still be there?
Yes, as long as you use the same email address as last year. Once you have registered for this year’s event, you will see an option to import your contacts from the previous event.
Will there be an actual event or is this all virtual?
We will have a combination of onsite and offsite optional events. Students may choose the type of exercise and the increments in which the exercise is done. (i.e. 15 minutes of exercise on four different days for a total of 60 minutes, 30 minutes of exercise twice, etc.).
Does registering for the Eagle Run - Virtual 5K count towards my participation in the Fitness Challenge?
The Eagle Run - Virtual 5K is a community event that has been added to the Fitness Challenge this year. Participating in this optional event will count towards your child(ren)'s fitness minutes. Additionally, each SMS family is required to support the Fitness Challenge at a minimum level of $50 per student. If the minimum requirement of $50/per student is met, it will count towards your family's financial participation commitment and towards prize levels.
I'm not sure what kind of exercise to have my kids do; do you have any suggestions?
Sure! Running, walking, soccer, dance, basketball, biking, jump rope, etc.
How do I track my child(ren)’s activity for the fitness challenge portion?
How will prizes be distributed?
Prizes will be distributed Tuesdays and Thursdays.
I know a business that would like to sponsor; how do they do that?
Businesses can sponsor directly through the student’s page or via the paper pledge form found in the packet that will be going home on November 1st. The sponsorship will count towards your child(ren)’s fundraising total.
Why aren’t we directly soliciting business sponsors this year?
Due to the current economic conditions, we have opted not to solicit business sponsorships for this event. We will instead make one ask later in the school year to support our gala event which has higher overhead costs. Additionally, because the SMS Fitness Challenge event is managed in-house, rather than hiring a vendor, the school keeps the entirety of the donations or sponsorships regardless of whether the donation comes in the form of a direct student sponsorship or through a business sponsorship.
