A Little About Me: My name is Shannon Lessard, and I am so blessed to be teaching 5th grade homeroom along with continuing my 5th - 8th science position at St. Michael, the school where I graduated 8th Grade!
Growing up, I was always in a classroom helping my mom, dad, and aunt whom are all teachers. I have always had a soft spot in my hear for enhancing the love for learning in my students. I was really able to solidify my teaching love in college when I spent my senior year volunteering to tutor and support sudents, along with starting a STEM club at the local high school. My favorite part about teaching is seeing the "ah-ha" moment when students understand a particularly difficult topic. This year, I enjoyed teaching 8th grade Mat under the mentorship of Mrs. Miron. It gave me the opportunity to help the sudents work through some challenging material. I cannot wait to see this lightbulb mement in all of my students!
My Background and Education: I grew up in Marin County, starting my education at Saint Raphael Catholic School before I moved to Livermore with my family. I then proceeded to attend and graduate from Saint Michael School. Upon graduation, I was proud to be the fourth generation to complete my Catholic education at SMS. After hight school I attended Sonoma State University to pursue my love of Science with a BA in Physics, as well as completing a Certification in Maker's (STEM) Education. This past year, I have been blessed to continue my education through the COVID-19 pandemic. I have graduated with my Masters in Art of Teaching, as well as obtained my California Credential.
