Why I Work at St. Michael School Ever since my two children attended St. Michael School, it has always been near and dear to my heart. I believe in prayer in school and believe the moral, ethic, and faith-based values instilled at St. Michael are immeasurable to our children's lifelong success. I always admired and was inspired by the hard work, dedication, and leadership of the teachers and staff and their commitment to build the St. Michael school community to its fullest potential.
My Philosophy of Teaching 'Learn by Doing', my Cal Poly alma mater motto, is instilled in my values and my outlook on life and on teaching. I believe children learn with their hearts, hands and minds and excel to their fullest potential when they limit screen time and spend time working together with their peers to obtain a goal. I encourage children to be active and patient listeners because interpersonal communication is key to building important relationships in school and life.
My Background My two daughters are St. Michael School graduates and I had the pleasure of being involved frequently in the classroom, field trips, and afterschool programs. I led a dual-age St. Michael Girl Scout Troop, from kindergarten to 9th grade, through their earning of the Silver award. I was a parent volunteer for the science and art resources programs, meeting weekly with students in hands-on classroom settings and assisting in the classrooms as needed. I received a BS in Journalism and a minor in Public Relations at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. My corporate years were spent in Marketing Communications Management.
My Life Outside St. Michael I live in Livermore with my husband of 24 years. My daughters are 19 and 22 and I enjoy spending time with them as often as I can. My perfect Saturday would be spent either lounging at the beach or wandering the local nursery looking for something fun to plant in my garden.
