Why I Teach at St. Michael School I chose to work at St. Michael School because it is a faith-based community. I love the learning environment that the church and all the families help to build up for our students.
My Philosophy of Teaching I believe that children need the assurance of being loved and cared for at school and that each child is unique with different interests, backgrounds, and developmental stages.
My Background I received a bachelor's degree in English from Beijing Normal University and a master’s degree in education from Flinders University. I had been teaching English as a Foreign Language to college students for eighteen years in Beijing before I got the opportunity to teach Mandarin in two Catholic schools in New York twelve years ago. I also taught Mandarin to both heritage and non-heritage learners in Munich Germany for two years and then an after-school program in Pleasanton before joining St. Michael School as a TA.
My Life Outside St. Michael I am both an outdoor and an indoor person. I love jogging and hiking outdoors and taking pictures of beautiful scenery. When staying at home, I enjoy taking care of my pot plants and my cat and crafting. I love cooking with my husband too.
