Please, bookmark this "Weekly Newsletters" page and make it a habit to visit it every Wednesday afternoon. This is the best way to stay current on all important events and information affecting your child's home away from home the school.
Please click the grade title below and select an available time slot for you to meet with your child's teacher.
Tomorrow we will be sending home the first round of progress reports. Please keep in mind that while your child may have done very well last school year, each year's curriculum standards are more rigorous and it also takes time for the students to settle into new routines and expectations. For children in K - 5 on the standards based system, no student is receiving a 3 nor are students receiving muliple M's for Life Skills. It is expected that all students are in the learning phase, and it is a process for them to build-up to the 3's and solid M's as the year progresses. The children are right where they should be at 7 weeks into the school year. They are the 2/A stage, which means they are approaching the standards for their grade.
For students in grades 6 - 8, hopefully all parents have signed in to PowerSchool and will not be suprised by your child's letter grade so far this school year. Students have the next 6 weeks or so to improve their study habits in order to improve letter grades, as needed. They also have that time, to adjust to showing their teachers that they are trying their best to model excellent life skills.
If you have questions about your child's progress report, please contact the teacher directly. Also, above you will notice the sign-ups for our November Parent Teacher Conferences. All parents are expected to sign-up for a conference and students in grades 5 - 8 are expected to attend the conference.
Lastly, please make your payments for the Annual Fund/Parent Assessment. Each family is expected to fully participate. The half payment ($150) was due by Oct. 1st. You may send a check to the school office.
This Friday we will kickoff the 6th annual SMS Eagle Run. Students will attend an assembly to learn about the fun prizes they can win. Families are welcome to attend the assembly will be held 2:40-3:00 p.m in the Hall.
Packets will go home in backpacks on Friday with additional information and a paper pledge sheet that can be used an alternative to the website. Families will have three weeks to collect pledges for the Eagle Run which will take place on Friday, October 25th.
Please support your student(s) by helping them to create their fundrasing page. It takes just a few minutes to add a picture and share the page with family and friends via email, text, or Facebook.
Students who complete their page by Monday will receive a free dress pass!

THANK YOU!!!
A most sincere thank you to Jonathan Butler, Scott Bolster and Kate Durkalec for signing up and volunteering at the school's Ministry Fair booth on Sunday. Stephanie Lemoine you're a rockstar for jumping in and lending a much-needed hand...THANK YOU!!
I know how challenging it can be to commit to volunteering, but it is greatly appreciated when you do. Our Parish community supports the school financially as well as spiritually in so many ways. Being present to them and our local community at large is critical to increasing enrollment and future financial support for the school. We can't do it alone. Once again I sincerely thank you all for representing us so well.

Please bring canned vegetables and rice for this Friday for our St. Vincent de Paul collection. Thank you for being a Follower of Jesus by helping to feed those in need in our local community!
Here in Eagle's Nest this year our theme is authors and their various works of literature. We started out the year challenging the students to "Be Curious" about reading books from different authors and genres. Pre-readers are exposed to these varying styles through discussions we have and through the crafts and bulletin boards they help create. Of course, they are also familiar with them through the movies they have seen! Everyone knew our class "mascot," Toothless, from How to Train Your Dragon and he will be dressed for the different seasons and holidays! September brought us JRR Tolkien and The Hobbit on our outside board depicted with a shire and C.S. Lewis' The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe on the inside with the wardrobe on full display. Both of these authors were devout Catholics who cleverly have woven the theme of God, His People, and His disciples into their works of literature. Students helped by decorating hobbit doors and lions to depict two of these outstanding series of books.
Just a few "housekeeping" items: There are many lost St. Michael embroidered sweatshirts so please if you would check your child's to make sure that their name is in it and that they haven't accidentally picked up one that has a different name. We would really appreciate it.
Also, if you would like to send in a large-sized t-shirt or smock for days when we paint, we would be happy to store that for your child. We always use washable paint but if you prefer they wear something over their uniform during messy craft days, we would be happy to facilitate that.
It has been a great start to the year! It has been wonderful getting to know everyone and always feel free to stop by and chat, give us a call or send us an email! We are here to help you and your child have a happy, fun and positive experience here at Eagle's Nest.
