Students have been asking to do a Mannequin Challenge for weeks! As a class we discussed what mannequins would be doing in a third grade classroom. Students did a fabulous job brainstorming together and then chose their pose! It was a fun creative break and together we made it happen.
Students also sang a great version of Away in the Manger for the Christmas Program. We also learned it on recorder in the classroom. Students then had the option of playing recorder or singing for a video.
We are currently working on our multiplication facts and enjoying "Fun Math Friday." Students play math games in small groups or pairs challenging each other and helping one another. The current favorite game is a twist on the classic dots and boxes game. Students take turns rolling two dice. They find the product of the dice and then try to build a box around that number on their score sheet before their opponent. Whoever gets the most boxes at the end wins! Students are using excellent strategies to find the product and play the game. I am especially proud of their sportsmanship!
In third grade, we refine our reading fluency and comprehension. We now enjoy “chapter books”. We add, subtract, multiply and divide and work with fractions and geometry! We practice our faith by living the 10 Commandments and the “Golden Rule”.
